Have you ever collected shells from the beach? Maybe stamps or coins from other countries? Or, at least, stickers? We all may have done it at some point, but collecting is, in itself, a way of art – and, sometimes, it actually becomes an art collection that turns into a foundation or museum. Following his love for art and all things kitsch, Alessandro Michele creates, yet another season, a fantasyland where the motto of the ‘more is more’, horror vacui, and maximalism are the premises to present Gucci’s clothes and accessories. For the Fall/Winter 2018 campaign, titled Gucci Collectors and shot by Glen Luchford, a wide range of collections showcase each of the featured character’s obsessions: from teddy bears to ceramics, to wigs and dissected butterflies. But one thing is clear: none of them can compete against the obsession the world currently has with both Gucci and Michele.
