It is a busy week for Ellen Benediktson. From the release of her new single Jealousy today to stepping on stage tonight at Tallinn Music Week 2026 for her second gig in Europe, the Swedish artist moves through a series of defining moments without much pause in between.
Some emotions are easier left unspoken, softened at the edges or pushed aside before they fully take shape. On Jealousy, Benediktson leans straight into that discomfort, turning one of the least flattering feelings into the centre of the track and letting it stay there. “This is an ugly and personal song about my overthinking, anxious brain, and I hope you love it,” she says, setting the tone from the outset.
Following her debut EP Good Girl, the single marks a shift, though not in an obvious or dramatic way. Jealousy sits in a more exposed place, letting contradiction surface without trying to organise it. The focus moves closer to the feeling itself, catching it as it happens, even when it is uncomfortable to hold onto.
“I really want to genuinely celebrate other people’s success as much as I want them to celebrate mine,” she says. “I get so embarrassed when I’m nagged by jealousy. It’s ugly.” The way she puts it feels disarmingly honest, almost like catching a thought you were not supposed to say out loud. That discomfort is exactly what the track holds onto. It does not try to soften the feeling or push it into the background. The song keeps it in full view, letting it unfold in all its awkwardness, allowing that tension to exist without forcing it into something cleaner or easier to accept.
That same impulse runs through the wider world of WID4L, her upcoming EP arriving in just over a month. The project circles emotional states that rarely sit still, staying close to instinct and reaction rather than stepping back to analyse them.
