Following Dapper Dan’s collection for Gucci, the designer has teamed up again with the Italian house as they’re releasing a limited-edition book called Dapper Dan’s Harlem. It is a photographic journey through Dapper Dan’s beloved neighbourhood of Harlem (New York City), were his eponymous store and atelier – renovated in December 2017 with the help of Gucci – is famously located. The book also includes portraits of friends of his, like artist Trevor Andrew (aka Gucci Ghost), writer Cleo Wade and chef Marcus Samuelsson, all shot by Ari Marcopoulous, marking his second collaboration with Gucci – the first one being with the book Epiphany, released in 2016.
To celebrate its release, a cocktail party was held yesterday at the Gucci Garden in Florence, coinciding with the 95th edition of the Pitti Uomo. Dapper Dan was there to greet the guests in person and to sign copies of the book. Moreover, Dapper Dan’s Harlem will have an exclusive release of only five hundred copies, and it will be sold at a 180€ price point through the London-based store IDEA, which also acts as the publishing house, as well as the Florence Gucci Garden and the Gucci Wooster bookstore in New York.
