Just a few days ago, Chanel showed Virginie Viard’s Cruise 2025 collection to the world in a pretty unique – and très French - location: Le Corbusier’s La Cité Radieuse building located in Marseille. The architectural marvel, which was ahead of its time and was thought as a place where its inhabitants could create a strong bond and sense of community, not only hosted the Maison’s latest runway show but it also shows the photographic work of Jamie Hawkesworth, who took to the streets of the Mediterranean city to capture its essence and spontaneity.
Ttitled Portraits of Marseille, this solo show by the British photographer is on view until May 12th at La Cité Radieuse. In it we can observe the human, natural, and architectural landscape that conforms the second largest city in France, characterised by its cultural diversity, rich vibrancy, and beautiful light. From close-up portraits of women of all ages to Marseille’s beach hit by the golden hour, to the natural surroundings or little details that caught Jamie’s attention, we discover the city through his lens in a candid way. If you’re around, don’t miss the opportunity; and if you can’t attend, just take a look at the beautiful pictures below.
