You can still see the Wolfgang Tillmans exhibition in Stockholm, a big retrospective that looks back over the 20-year career of the photographer. The exhibition will be open until January 20 at the Moderna Museet to going in March to the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf where it will be open until July. “Beauty is a political word. Because it is what society finds acceptable, beautiful. For example, there is a picture in the exhibition of two guys kissing, so some find it beautiful and some find it disgusting. This is clearly not just personal but the political index. You see in the exhibition different sizes of my pictures, some of them are huge and other are tiny; but this is not to tell you the bigger ones are the most important, it is always about challenging you to take the freedom to use your own eyes and tribute value to the things as you see fit”, said Wolfgang Tillmans when is asked about what he think is valuable or acceptable and what not.
