Scott Schuman, the most recognized photographer capturing urban trends and one of the most influential persons in the fashion world, has his first exhibition in Spain. A few days ago, Loewe presented his work at a cocktail party at the fashion house shop in Madrid – Gran Vía, 8 – twinning the legendary luxury brand with the best urban style spy. The exhibit is part of the programming of the fifteenth edition of PhotoEspaña.
The stunning photographs that hangs on the walls at the Loewe store in Gran Vía will be part of Schuman’s second book, Closer, which will be released in August. All of them are snapshots that has been captured for six years on the streets around the world. Also, the exhibit includes a video showing the photographer's contact with Loewe, his working process and his personal impressions of cities like Berlin and Madrid.
Pioneer in the world of street style photography – he created The Sartorialist in 2006 – Scott Schuman is already a contemporary classic. Some of his photos are part of the permanent collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Tokyo. But his natural habitat is the street, an endless universe of trends. The styles portrayed by him are always different, showing that fashion is a matter of taste and feeling comfortable with what one wears.
The exhibit runs through August 5th. However, the stay in Spain of Scott’s photos doesn’t end there: the exhibition will travel in September to the Loewe Gallery in Barcelona, where he hopes to win new trophies for The Sartorialist, a blog that in 2011 had 14 million visits.
