It is well known that Copenhagen has established itself in recent years as one of the nerve centers on the global fashion scene. Its support for young independent designers and creatives, its commitment to sustainability and its promotion of local projects are some of the reasons that have made the Danish capital's fashion week an essential event on the fashion calendar. And of course, the talent and work of brands like Samsøe Samsøe. The international fashion brand rooted in Scandinavian simplicity has just presented its new Spring/Summer 2023 collection, Gone Fishing.
Inspired by enjoying some good summer time outdoors in, putting the activities or work to one side and closing for the day, the brand explores the freedom to take a break from the usual routines in its new collection, presented at Copenhagen Fashion Week’s last season. The brand, which dates back to 1993 when the Samsøe brothers opened a small namesake jewelery shop in Copenhagen's Latin Quarter, is one of the projects that have become the best ambassadors of Scandinavian heritage, betting on a wearable aesthetic that combines utilitarian ease and trendy street style.
Their colour palette this season includes soft shades in pistachio and off white, earthy and silverish tones, enlivened with a few pops of red, cherry, soft pink and neon grounded by colors such as faded black, sage and a variety of brown hues. Its reminiscences of the 1990s and early 2000s respects the brand's legacy but brings it closer to a more contemporary vision adapted to the current moment we are living in. Always looking for the formula in which design and functionality converge, and proving that the brand identity is now stronger than ever before.
