Pedro Almodóvar, Jim Jarmusch, Abel Ferrara and David Cronenberg star in The Director's Cut Saint Laurent's new Spring/Summer 2023 campaign. Shot and directed by fashion’s famed photographer David Sims, the campaign captures some of the greatest independent film directors of our generation embodying each of their separate personalities and cinematic styles in four distinct 15-second films. The French house’s current campaign offers an intellectual, innovative and bold take consistent with Saint Laurent’s intrepid spirit and avant-garde approach to fashion.

This time round, Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello turns the camera on the behind-the-scenes cinematic titans. All dressed in black, and shot in black and white, the images play with light and shadows in order to come up with silhouettes not easily depicted on screen, a homage to the art of filmmaking.
Almodóvar maintains a self-assured stance, his stoic face is hidden behind thick dark glasses and a furry coat. As the camera pans in, we listen to a tune which mirrors his own theatrics and extravagant plots. The campaign also celebrates the new partnership between Almodóvar and the Saint Laurent house which is producing and costume designing the director’s anticipated Western short film Strange Way of Life starring Pedro Pascal.
