This weekend we received some wonderful yet not-so-surprising news, Ibrahim Kamara, known as the Editor-in-Chief at Dazed has been announced as the new Art & Image Director for Off-White. This new role means that he will be overseeing the artistic direction of the brand, after Virgil Abloh, founder and Chief Executive Director, tragically passed away in November 2021, leaving the brand with no successors.
Ibrahim Kamara and Virgil Abloh were close friends for years, as they had a close personal and professional relationship in which they would send each other direct messages on Instagram about their ongoing creative projects. In the brand's official statement they state: “In the wake of Virgil’s tragic passing we have been working tirelessly to keep his legacy alive and the brand relevant as a point of reference and platform in constant evolution (...) Having Ibrahim on board, who has been part of the Off-White™ family for years styling our shows, to oversee art and creative of the brand in this next chapter is a great honour. With his talent and vision, we look forward to taking on the next chapter of Off-White™ together, always remembering the groundbreaking creativity and values that Virgil had at heart and that are the core of our brand.”

For these reasons this doesn't come as much of a surprise, this is probably the best match they could have found for the brand. We are excited to see what's to come from Kamara, hopefully, he will continue to honour the legacy of Abloh whilst still constantly innovating and amazing us, as Off-White has been doing for the past few years.
