He reigns today in the fashion world as a spectral mentor. Helmut Lang's trademarks are now seen as basic – these stark and androgynous sharp-cut silhouettes are indeed today recurrent patterns in fashion. And this Spring 1995 campaign encapsulated his iconic signature: a facetious and anti-obvious mix-and-match of high and low fashion, and a skinny male model acting as a bandit by making his hands look like a gun. It was photographed by David Sims, ten years before the self-taught designer retired from fashion.
