Christian Dior brought opulence and magnificence back to women dressing immediately after the Second World War. After a tragic period of rationing resources and wearing dark and poor fabrics, the groundbreaking New Look collection of 1947 established the ‘femme fleur’. Ten years later, the Anniversary Highlights photo shoot featured in the March issue of LIFE magazine depicted models posing in the new Christian Dior collection in the salon of House of Dior’s headquarters at 30 Avenue Montaigne, Paris. Photographed by Loomis Dean, this would be the last collection created by the couturier himself. Few months later, Dior would die of a heart attack, letting the leadership of his house to a pretty young Yves Saint Laurent.
