Since his very first collection, Gianni Versace engaged with Richard Avedon to bring some sort of irreverence to Versace's campaigns. Standing in stark contrast to what was considered to be fashion advertising at the time, such collaboration anchored the Versace signature: sculptural bodies, bombshell beauty, sex and humour. In 1995, the campaign had literally outshone the clothing to let Versace’s spirit encounter that beautiful lighting Avedon was so famous for. Intricately entangled, those handsome hunks exhibit Versace's attitude: poised and hypersexual! In case you ask, it was indeed all about taking clothes off.
Versace by Richard Avedon, Fall/Winter 1994.
