The 22-year-old singer-songwriter from Los Angeles wrote the hook of her latest release in the car coming from creating the basic layout with her producer, Harry Eagan. “We wanted to have a really big pop song that had hints of Maggie Rogers, ‘80s synth similar to The 1975 and Harry Styles with the girl pop anthem lyrics of Olivia Rodrigo, I feel like we accomplished that perfectly,” she says about which is one of her favourite songs to date and is very much like dancing around to your biggest tragedy.
“The lyrics became pretty difficult for me to write after the hook, which came so easily. Harry and I wanted the lyrics to be perfect since the track and hook felt bigger than both of us. We challenged ourselves with how my feelings about my past relationship were being performed lyrically and I don't think the song would've felt nearly as impactful without Harry pushing me as hard as he did,” she adds when asked about Hold My Hand, whose lyrics are incredibly heartbreaking but also empowering and makes you feel like you can take on a mountain after listening.
