Today we're talking about Emotional Oranges' new release, Not Like This, a warehouse rave-ready collaboration with electronic supremo, ZHU. This latest single follows their support of Halsey in The Middle East and arrives with their new project, Still EMO, set to drop in early August. Being the perfect track for your weekend playlist, this creative synergy showcases the ominous, rolling beats that have made ZHU a big room staple, and the unique chemistry that has seen Emotional Oranges emerge as one of the most exciting R&B duos around.
“I met ZHU back in 2014 while he was working on the Night EP in a small studio in Culver City. I was always inspired by his relentless dedication to the brand and vision of what he wanted his music, art, and clothes to look and feel like,” says A, one of the members of the Emotional Oranges duo, when asked about how the idea of working together came about, and what was the starting point of the single that they’re now releasing. “I didn't initially think our paths would cross musically, but now I couldn't think of a more perfect marriage. This is the first of a few ideas we're working on, and I'm so happy that we get to put it out independently.”
Since the release of their long-awaited first project, The Juice: Vol. I, the group has continued to grow their fanbase all over the world, and they now have more than two million monthly listeners on Spotify. Such a thing happened to the Grammy-nominated ZHU, who teamed up with Devault and BabyJake on the silken, slow-burning new single Revelations, his first release since last summer's Musical Chairs Mixtape (Vol. 1) which we told you about in this article some months ago.
