Just under a year at his new creative director role of the Italian luxury house, Matthieu Blazy has opted for a simple yet striking elegance for his Resort 2023 collection. Opting for craftsmanship and classic looks, this collection is filled with clothes we would actually wear, a key goal for Blazy and his team.
In true Bottega Veneta fashion, the collection saw its emblematic weaving, or intrecciato to be exact, on leather goods ranging from the reiteration of top-selling bags to platform mules and jacket detailing. It also saw one of Blazy’s most talked about design, the leather trousers, this time weaved in blue and yellow versions. While this technique is nothing new for Bottega Veneta, Blazy’s mastering of it presents itself in a fresh manner that is elevated through its unconventional appearance on unexpected pieces.
The collection also offers a range of wardrobe must-haves. Two-piece suits, black dresses and a range of it-girl accessories are finished off with discreet yet luxurious gold detailing. Being its third collection at Bottega Veneta, it is clear that Blazy’s vision for the brand is that of heritage celebrations with an accentuation on a refined sophistication with his luxurious clientele in mind.
