These last 2 years have not been easy for the fashion industry, a sector defined by a breakneck speed, that has been slowed down by the global pandemic, which has forced the cancellation of countless face-to-face presentations and fashion shows. Now that the sanitary situation is improving – although masks and social distancing are still necessary – we see the light at the end of the tunnel. And one of the great reasons to regain hope is the upcoming edition of Altaroma, which will be held from February 2 to 4 in physical format. But the entire event will be also live-streamed and accessible on-demand at this link and on the new Altaroma app.
“Today, Altaroma acts in fact as an incubator, creating through its projects a virtuous circle aimed at the discovery and promotion of new talents of Made in Italy,” said Silvia Venturini Fendi 2 years ago, when we talked about the fundamental role that this platform had national and internationally and we featured the work of Federico Cina or Vanadio23. The fashion runway for emerging made in Italy talents and independent designers continues to consolidate itself as a reference point on the world fashion map, and its next edition – whose calendar you can check out here – promises to once again bet on synergies between young creatives and the most recognised talents, striking a perfect balance that favours the international projection of all the participating brands.

Independent designers, emerging brands and innovative start-ups will be some of the protagonists of Altaroma, and they will have the opportunity to present their clothes and accessories collections at Showcase Roma. A much-needed initiative at a time when mutual support between creators is essential for the success and consolidation of projects, and which favours relationships with buyers, press and important agents in the sector. This is a sign that Altaroma has been able to adapt to the new times, unlike other European fashion weeks that continue to focus solely and exclusively on the great Maisons or brands that are already very well-known internationally.

On the first day, we will discover the collections of Alberto Audenino, Edoardo Gallorini or Muusa, among other brands. Where? In Cinecittà Studios, the main location of the event where lots of presentations and events will take place over 3 days. From fashion talks in which the fundamental role that women will play in the future of fashion will be discussed to an exhibition of projects by students taking part in the Startup Fashion Academy Project. The Fashion Film Festival Milano Digital Awards, an innovative digital format that shows that new formulas are here to stay, will also be held on Wednesday, and IED Rome will present a fashion video that shows the best of its fashion school. But if there is something that we cannot miss, it is the Fashion contest for designers and aspiring entrepreneurs in the world of fashion organised by CNA Roma and Daydream Studio, Roma Young Talents.

On Thursday we will immerse ourselves in the creative universe of Simon Cracker, Casa Preti or Gaiofatto, and we will also learn about the experience and opinions of different professionals in the sector in several activities and forums. Conversations aimed at finding answers to topics that directly affect the future of fashion, generating an interesting active debate with which we will all try to answer lots of questions. Among the activities, we have to mention Lazio Innova/Altaroma's talk, which will feature the winners of the Startup Fashion Academy and the designers of the Business School for Designers. Or Rome is my Runway #2, with the participation of Homie or Eticlò, among others.

Italian Family or Gretel Z. will unveil their Fall-Winter 2022 collections on the third and last day of the edition. The showcase will remain active and we will be able to continue knowing and enjoying the emerging and independent talent promoted by Altaroma. Several presentations and events will take place throughout one of the most interesting days on the calendar. Do not miss it!
