Yoko Gold has just broken free, jumping to the next level and leaving behind a dark world of indecision. Toronto R&B rising star Yoko Gold, whose hit collaboration Hurts Me with Tory Lanez has amassed over 250 million streams, releases today his new EP, Escape From Limbo, opening a new chapter not only in his musical career but also in his life. The project features the standout single Red Lights, mixed by Grammy winner Manny Marroquin, and showcases Gold's evolution from his breakout success.
From Red Lights, the EP's focus track, which dives deep into the complexities of toxic relationships, to Virgin Lungs, Obsolote, and Mirage, among many others, this nine-track project was crafted alongside producer 905Luca across Canada's east coast, includes contributions from Aaron Paris, Ben Foran, and Chris “CVRE” Kim, was mixed by Elijah Marrett-Hitch, and mastered by Kristian Montano, and delivers a fresh perspective in modern R&B, creating multi-sensory experiences that blur the lines between imagination and reality. Escape From Limbo as a whole focuses on the duality of Yoko's character and takes us on a journey that begins with imbalance and uncertainty and ends when he breaks through the barriers of his mind.
“I wanted to use this EP like a map. I knew if I could overcome my need to be perfect, I could get to the next stage in my career and life,” says Gold, who is very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with his fellow Toronto native, 905Luca. “We just wanted to sound like us and give the people an experience they've never felt before. A lot of this EP was made throughout the east coast of Canada. We went wherever our spirits led us. Music should always be fun, and that's what we had doing this project,” he adds before sharing some thoughts about the message he wants to send with his latest project. “I want people to know that fear is not an enemy. It is a motivator, a compass, and a guiding light ready to push you off the cliff.”
