After kicking off their European tour on February 3, Turner Cody and The Soldiers of Love are already deep into the rhythm of the road. Last night, the band passed through Valencia, continuing a run of shows that stretches across Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, and the UK. The tour arrives at a moment of hype, unfolding in parallel with the release of Out For Blood, which is out today via Capitane Records.
Turner Cody has always written from movement and displacement, and the timing feels fitting. The album meets the band in transit, shaped by long distances, changing scenery, and the kind of repetition that comes with playing night after night. The tour follows the release of the lead single, Recognize a Friend, unveiled last week alongside a music video directed by Cam Kennedy and filmed in New Orleans. The track sets the tone for the record through its focus on Billy, an urban everyman watching early ambitions give way to routine.
Elsewhere on Out For Blood, Cody expands that focus through a series of closely observed songs built around specific situations and characters. Some sit with the tension between freedom and responsibility, while others drift toward domestic unease and moral doubt, staying with moments where certainty slowly begins to fade.
Across Out For Blood, Cody leans fully into the language of country songwriting while avoiding its more obvious gestures. The songs unfold like small, self-contained stories, drawing on ideas of freedom and redemption. Much of this perspective comes from Cody’s move from New York to St. Louis, a shift that sharpened his attention to everyday struggle, relationships, and the spaces in between. Reuniting with producer Nicolas Michaux and The Soldiers of Love, the sound remains measured and attentive, giving room for voice and story to settle naturally.
