Since releasing her debut album, Bad Ideas, in 2019, receiving Spotify's NMF Times Square billboard, Tessa Violet has not stopped positioning herself in the current music scene, bringing her music around the world. Having created several of her own trends on TikTok and having released last year her sophomore album, My God!, the artist known for her raw and relatable anthems that deeply resonate with her fans is now unveiling a gender-neutral version of her summer single, My Body's My Buddy, featuring Brye.
“When I released My Body’s My Buddy, my fans asked for a gender-neutral version—I was so down and immediately thought of asking corook to jump on as the feature!” She tells us when we ask her when she came up with the idea for this release and how the collaboration with the artist behind hits like If I Were a Fish came about. “I had been listening to their song Emergency Contact a lot over the summer, and I love all the new things they're putting out. When I brought the idea up to Brye, she told me they also had a viral song centred around body positivity.”
The original song, My Body’s My Buddy, which has almost a million streams on Spotify, jumps to the next level with this new remix, amplifying the single’s message of inclusion, self-acceptance, and body positivity for the trio’s non-binary audiences. The song, which was created as an exercise where you write letters from the perspective of your body to yourself, take a break, and then write a letter from yourself to your body, results in an empowering anthem.
