What happens when two respected, award-winning, veteran musicians and producers get together? Just have a listen to Storeys to find out. More specifically to Distance, the pair’s new single, which they’ve released today. The duo is formed by Anthony Saff Saffery, a former member of the band Cornershop, and Steven Smith, a former member of Dirty Vegas. With their expertise in the field, good taste for sound, and experience both on stage and in the studio, you just know you’re in the right hands.

Even though their new hit can (and will) easily light up a party, the inspiration behind it isn’t as light as it seems. Quite the opposite. For Saffery and Smith, writing, composing and producing Distance was a sort of cathartic exercise. “Upon reflection, sometimes some of our moments when we really seem to be struggling are some of the key moments that lead to better time in our lives. The lyric in this became a message I kept telling myself during a most troublesome period. Sometimes what seems like our lowest point can be the beginning of a wonderful journey,” the duo explains about their new release.

This new track, with blends pared down ambient-led melodies and unfiltered electronic grooves, follows his previous release, Together. Both of these songs will come together in a forthcoming 4-track EP titled Neon, which they plan on releasing later this summer. So while we enjoy warm nights out, we’ll be able to enjoy these two hits non-stop while anxiously waiting for the remaining two.
