We are just back from Tokyo. Fresh off the plane, the more recurrent thought was how much the never-ending high doses of insane style and unique fashion will be missed. Being the city with probably the highest amount of taste per square metre and where the outfits worn for just another day at work equal our “only for special occasions” fits, Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo is the congregation and the perfect display of what this city has to offer to the industry and to the culture, which is a lot. Photographer Jessequattro captured the runway before the runways: the streets nearby the show location, where, no matter the extreme weather or if it was day or night, the attendees gave us a masterclass, even turning a simple umbrella into a high-fashion accessory.
With a long-lasting and deeply ingrained culture and appreciation for garments, proportions and beauty, the streets of Japan are filled with personality, each one different from the other; perhaps that is the reason why it is generally seen as the place with the best street style in the world. With iconic publications like Tune and Fruits solely focused on capturing and publishing what everyday people wear in their everyday lives for years and years, it is proved how highlighting the personal stylistic choices of Tokyo’s inhabitants will never be a boring or repetitive task. This season was, of course, not the exception, and the lens of Jessequattro was ready to immortalise how the S/S 2026 chapter of this book looks. Here you have it.
