The most recent season of Tokyo Fashion Week has come to an end, but the inspiration coming from its runways and its streets is, as per usual, strong enough to last us until the next one. An event that reunites a community, caring and enthusiastic about beauty, craft, fashion and the wonders that can come from the merge between the three, results in the maximum exhibition of taste and authenticity born in the designers' mood boards and reflected in daily life and vice versa. This symbiotic relationship between creator and user, between the source of innovation and the ones who motivate them, is reflected in the visual diary captured by Jessequattro during the six days of the event. A communion of personal identities that shine in their difference, a street style that represents the real mission, function and power of fashion.
In a culture where every element that is part of life is valued and taken care of in a conscious and tender way, fashion is not the exception. From our previous experience in the country, we know how every garment conceived and created by Japanese designers doesn't exist by chance or to fulfil a requirement; they carry within them a deep sense of purpose and a desire to adapt to and enhance the living experience of the one who chooses to wear it, as well as help create and construct their own individual universe. One of the most important parts of fashion, often forgotten, is its indispensable role in shaping and reflecting who we are, and in Japan, the exercise of guessing who someone is by the clothes they are wearing is easier than in any other country.
Perhaps, from the outside, it still exists as an image of excessive control, of a required poise to prevent our personal freedom from disturbing that of others, but at Tokyo Fashion Week we learn how everyone's freedom can coexist and complement each other colourfully, loudly and happily. The pulse and the energy living around the Hikarie building and the other show venues feel like the truest version of Tokyo, and photographer Jessequattro, who captured not only the garments but also the tension, the rhythm and the identity each holds in them, shares the same thought. “On the surface, the city feels orderly, quiet, and restrained, but underneath that order, there is always an emotion that feels close to breaking out — like a force being held back, waiting to be released. For me, Tokyo Fashion Week became the place where that energy could finally be seen and amplified.”
