It’s rather unusual to start the hype for a film nine months before it comes out; but here we are. The latest Amazon MGM Studios production, on cinemas in March of 2026, has an official trailer already — one that gives you goosebumps. Because the formula seems about right: Award-nominated actors Ryan Gosling and Sandra Hüller taking the lead, Academy Award-winning directors and producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller behind the camera, and Harry Styles’ 2017 hit Sign of the Times as a karaoke scapegoat. We love it already.
We love to see the rise of sci-fi movies, especially now that we’re witnessing the destruction of the planet we call home. This time though, the plot isn’t about colonising other planets or exploring outer space; rather, about saving the Sun and, in consequence, the entire solar system. And what is wrong with it, you may wonder? “We don’t know,” a team of experts answer in unison when Gosling’s character asks the same question. Which is why he, an elementary school science teacher, comes into play.
With no prior experience – “I put the ‘not’ in astronaut,” he affirms –, the character of this story seems to be the only hero capable of saving everything we know: our lives, our planet, and the entire Solar system. The trailer gives hints that there’ll be aliens, lots of action, self-doubt, and perhaps hard-to-grasp concepts à la Interstellar. But it will also serve incredible cinematography, music, and, of course, performances.
