A few months ago, Alexander Skarsgård had us gagging when he appeared in a pair of black thigh-high leather boots by Saint Laurent at the Cannes Film Festival. Oozing sex appeal, the Swedish actor dominated the red carpet like no other. And that was precisely his intention. Because he was there to present the new film where he’s playing a dominant biker who gets a new, obedient sub. We’re talking about Pillion, the new film by director and screenwriter Harry Lighton, and produced by A24.
However, the trailer reveals that Lighton’s new feature film won’t be all about gags, ropes, boot licking, and whips. On the contrary: it feels like a lighthearted romantic comedy. Only that instead of a normative, straight couple, we get an impossibly hot guy telling an awkward yet cute guy, played by Harry Melling, what to do — “buy yourself a butt plug, you’re too tight,” Skarsgård’s character commands him.
Exploring some dark, unexplored desires and BDSM relationships, Harry Lighton’s debut caught people’s attention in Cannes because of its fresh approach and sense of humour. There isn’t an official release date, so wait and see.
