Last week we visited NU fashion, a new creative Platform that launched its first edition at the Red Fish Factory, an amazing place in Antwerp, Belgium.
In the different rooms of the building there were several emerging fashion designers installations, curated by ex-students of the Fashion Academy of Antwerp, who are now teachers in different schools, and who curated the event clustered into one theme: Identity.
Two of the collections to highlight from this edition where Fragrances of a dream. Dreams were the starting point of my collection. I think of them as an honest way of encountering who we are. The contrast between a person laying in bed and the dream scenes playing in the head appealed to me. My collection refers to the vulnerability of the dreamer resulting in a tender image, estranged by influences of the dream" in words of the designer, Silvia Dauwe.
And COC – Church of Chica – , by Tom Van der Borght a colorful collection accompanied with a funny video and an installation where the backlight gave the space a unique atmosphere, a collection made looking for an icon to build a cult around.
Apart from this, the event was enriched with a great program of power-talks where Sarah Mower, Mariette Hoitink , Jamie Anderson, Lapo Cianchi and Bruno Pieters. Talked, discussed and gave their vision about what we love, fashion.
