The worlds of high fashion and bold eyewear have collided with the new Mugler x Gentle Monster collaboration. This partnership blends Mugler’s heritage and modern spiral motifs with Gentle Monster’s extensive eyewear experience, culminating in two striking eyewear silhouettes. The collection features two designs, Spiral 01 and Spiral 02, each reflecting the artistry that defines both brands.
Spiral 01 draws its intense geometric energy from Mugler’s ‘Fourmis’ eyewear, first seen in the House’s 1997 Les Insectes haute couture collection. This design is a modern reinterpretation of classic elements, showcasing a bold, futuristic look. Spiral 02, on the other hand, leans contemporary with embossed line details and a chrome logo, presenting a sleek and sophisticated appearance. Both models are a testament to the commitment of Mugler and Gentle Monster to striving to push the boundaries of design, but the project doesn’t end there. Each piece comes in a modern, unique package whose design incorporates organic forms, highlighting a visionary aesthetic.
To bring this collection to life, a campaign starring Colin Jones and Georgia Palmer has been shot by creative director Theo Liu. The campaign makes references to and honours iconic visual innovators like Helmut Newton and Manfred Thierry Mugler in its work to capture the spirit of both brands.
Releasing on July 18th, the Mugler x Gentle Monster collection will be available through online and offline stores, with special events in Seoul and Shanghai to celebrate the launch. Mugler and Gentle Monster will be represented in these temporary spaces through dynamic and immersive experiences. This collection is not just about eyewear; it represents a convergence of high fashion and statement-making design, making a splash in the accessories world.
