If painting is yesteryears' memory, sometimes paintings work as a window to childhood memories. Child with a Dove, finished in 1901 by Pablo Picasso, portrayed the favored subject of his father; Don Jose Ruiz had indeed made pigeons the main subjects of his paintings. Legend has it that in Pablo’s hometown, Málaga, pigeons bided in the sycamore trees at Plaza de la Merced, where he and his sisters used to play. He was so absorbed by the curious bird that every so often he took a pigeon to class, enjoying sketching it rather than doing what's expected from a child.
