Meet your new favourite photography studio. The creative space Lumin Studio in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York has opened its doors. Their previous space welcomed private shoots for V Magazine, Vogue Thailand and Interview Magazine. Now Lumin Studio 333 Stagg street is open for community, collaboration and celebration too — started off with a stylish drinks party, that was 21+ okay!? The hosts were of course the effervescent Yanran Xiong and Stefy Lin, photographers who founded this hub that nurtures creativity and big fashion moments.
Yanran Xiong and Stefy Lin are business partners and friends who both left home to build a life in New York, and find belonging. The studio is a big part of this story. On the space they share, “Lumin Studio is a sanctuary where fashion, art, and culture converge: a space for those who dare to be seen, who strive to shine when the odds are stacked against them.” More than just a physical space, Lumin Studio 2.0 acts as a facilitator, a conduit to collaboration and, most importantly, the spark of community. The name, of course, puts an emphasis on light.
Marking their official launch of the new studio earlier this month with drinks at an open bar, amuse-bouches, music and spatial works, guests mingled with glee to the sound of trendy beats and lively chatter. Celebrating their network of fashion types and collaborators, Lumin is the place to know for a meeting of minds and cultures. To describe the event in their own words, “Tonight’s launch unfolds as a multi-sensory journey: a signature scent, shifting light and shadow, layered soundscapes, and a sculptural centrepiece — an industrial tabletop crowned with a horizontal beam of light, a bold gesture of emergence, resilience, and brilliance.” The exacting approach of the photographers who founded the studio is infused in the 2200 square foot professional space. With 14’ high ceilings, polished concrete floors, and natural light pouring through oversized industrial windows, Lumin (and its party) strikes the perfect balance between raw edge and refined minimalism.
Celebrations were made with “Texture-driven culinary creations and ethereal florals engage taste, sight, and touch, reflecting Lumin’s ethos: imaginative, elevated, and unapologetically boundary-breaking.” The duo added, “This evening celebrates the courage to step into the light, the power of connection, and the transformative energy that arises when creativity refuses to remain invisible.” It’s a bold new era. “The launch night itself was surreal. Seeing the space come alive, filled with people connecting, creating, and discovering this little world we’d poured ourselves into. It was the moment all that hard work became something real. That night wasn’t just a celebration; it was proof that a shared dream, relentless effort, and belief in creative community can come together to create something that truly belongs.” A pinch-me moment!
After the party, the co-founders affirmed, “As creatives, we are always searching for belonging; for a place where ideas can live freely and being delusional isn’t something to hide but something to celebrate. This studio was born from that belief.” They added emotionally, “Lumin Studio is more than just a space, it is a reminder that we don’t have to wait for permission to create something meaningful.” Lumin is more than just a photography studio, it’s a cutting-edge creative playground built for tastemakers who refuse to play by the rules. Fashion, art, brands, and visionaries collide here to craft bold ideas, launch unforgettable moments, and build the kind of creative chemistry that sets trends — not follows them.
On designing the space, it’s interesting to note, decisions about the design and use were “deeply intuitive.” Lumin Studio is “a living, breathing environment where creativity feels at home.” In fact, the design became a mirror to Yanran Xiong and Stefy Lin’s values: “fluid yet grounded, minimal yet warm, raw yet full of heart. It’s a space born from the belief that belonging isn’t something you find, it’s something you build together.”
Sleek, versatile, and unapologetically elevated, Lumin is the go-to venue for industry insiders and creatives hungry to disrupt, inspire, and connect. Whether it’s a high-impact shoot, a secretive dinner, or a buzz-worthy activation, this is where the future of culture comes alive and where every square foot is designed to fuel innovation and ignite collaboration.
