For Spring/Summer 2027, Louis Vuitton brings Paris Fashion Week to a sci-fi cinematic close, transforming the Louvre Museum’s Cour Carrée into a futuristic racetrack (flying cars included). Under Nicolas Ghesquière’s direction, the historic setting becomes the stage for Ergonomie: an instinctive dialogue between body, object and action.
The concept becomes the principle of the collection, changing the starting point of design from the garment to the body itself. Here, clothes are conceived almost like anatomy: instead of imposing an external silhouette, Ghesquière allows the silhouette to emerge from the physique within. Garments become almost like a second skin because they mould to the body rather than moulding the body.
The collection begins with white dresses reduced to their essential forms, establishing a sense of purity and lightness before gradually building towards greater complexity. White emerges as a key highlight of the line. Clean lines and weightless fabrics allow the silhouettes to move freely around the body, while ruffles begin to expand and transform dresses and coats, adding volume without compromising their fluidity. Later on, geometric patterns overlap and intersect across the collection, introducing a more graphic dimension.
Ghesquière moves away from the structured, almost architectural silhouettes that have defined his language, replacing them with forms that appear liberated from weight. Sheer materials, chiffon and silk envelop the body, creating garments that seem to shift with every gesture. The silhouette is no longer constructed from the outside. As the body moves, the clothes reveal, collapse, expand and transform with it. The apparent effortlessness of these clothes is anything but accidental. Everything is ultralight, but nothing is unconstructed. Double and triple composite chiffons, carré silks and scarf fabrics in silk and cashmere are layered and engineered to create weightless forms. Traditional tailoring is reworked through reduction: internal layers are removed, construction is streamlined and structure is pushed almost entirely out of sight. The engineering remains invisible so that the movement can feel instinctive.
The clothes may look effortless, but they are carefully engineered. Alongside the dresses, leather jackets, boots and wide-leg trousers build a wardrobe for the modern city woman, designed to be lived in and moved through. It is a wardrobe in constant motion, where the future is ultimately defined by its functionality and its ability to move with the body.
Louis Vuitton has always dressed the journey, from its iconic trunks and travel bags to a flight-proof wardrobe. This season, movement becomes more than a theme: it becomes a principle of dressing. The journey is no longer simply carried by the object; it is now embodied by the wearer. Ghesquière imagines the future through clothes that listen to the body, follow its instincts and adapt to its rhythm.
