So, you're not seeing double: yes, the Men's Fall/Winter 2022 collection did come out in January, however, Louis Vuitton did a show, a spin-off, in their own words, a capsule, remix of sorts, of this collection but in a new show in Bangkok through nine never-before-seen looks in a show titled Louis Dreamhouse².
This collection was the last one that Virgil Abloh had planned for his residency or octology (the eight collections he had designed before passing), and this is another version of this created for the city of Bangkok (Thailand). In a stage that shows off an upside-down house, a reference to The Wizard of Oz, which was also the movie that inspired Abloh's first collection for Louis Vuitton, the brand showcases youthful looks featuring letterman jackets, white laced suits, a male bridal look featuring a baseball cap with a veil, and many other garments and even attitudes that belong to Abloh's imagery, the language that he created for the French Maison.
In his own words: “We might go to India or Kansas or Cuba, but wherever we go the focus is youth: the stage in your life before you’ve been taught or programmed to do, think or wear certain things. And in that study, you realise that teenagers on opposite sides of the world are dealing with the same things. It reflects the fact that, fundamentally, we are all one.” As always, he never forgot about the youth, following the Boyhood ideology he had created, and this just goes to show what he was able to do and provide for the culture, a masterful showcase of graphic motifs, sleek looks and silhouettes with a bit of an edge.
