Louis Vuitton reimagines its iconic Bed Trunk introduced back in 1868 with two limited-edition interpretations, crafted in collaboration with Creative Directors Nicolas Ghesquière and Pharrell Williams, each one with its own unique fresh take on the maison's storied heritage on luxury travel.
The Bed Trunk, originally introduced as a pioneering piece for explorers, provided a portable, durable sleeping solution. This new iteration honours that legacy while catering to contemporary tastes. For one side, Ghesquière's vision of the Bed Trunk draws inspiration from his futuristic collections. The exterior is crafted from engraved metal sheets and adorned with sleek modern corner pieces and a soft floral-patterned mattress, creating a unique contrast between the trunk’s industrial exterior and its delicate interior.
On the other hand, Pharrell Williams' reinterpretation brings a playful, youthful touch, featuring worn stripe prints inspired by the Maison’s 1872 pattern. The jacquard mattress is embroidered with the iconic “LV Lovers,” while blond wood accents and bold red and white stripes add a vibrant contrast to the black aluminum hardware.
These reinterpretations of the Bed Trunk will be showcased at exclusive exhibitions in Paris this fall. Ghesquière’s creation will be on display at the Saint-Germain-des-Prés store from September 20th to October 6th to mark his tenth anniversary as Creative Director. Meanwhile, Williams' design will be featured at the Savoir Rêver event at the Hotel Cheval Blanc from September 21st to October 4th, inviting fashion lovers to explore Louis Vuitton’s evolving vision of luxury.
