New York designer Shayne Oliver may be taking a break with his fashion brand Hood by Air, but he certainly isn’t taking a break from fashion altogether. His latest collaboration is taking his unique vision of bags to a whole new level, as he has teamed up with the iconic French label Longchamp. An unlikely partnership that, nevertheless, works perfectly as the aura of street coolness of the first expands the democratic luxury of the latter to new horizons.
The collection features not only bags but also shoes and clothes, including a very special bomber jacket that has incorporated Longchamp’s Le Pliage, the traditional nylon bag, into the sleeves. The leather bag handles can also be found back on the shoes, making them practical to carry after a long night dancing. The bags themselves maintain their popular silhouette but are embellished with the words Hiatus, a nod to the state of Hood by air; Realness, a nod to the 1990 documentary Paris is burning; or the Longchamp logo blown out of proportion. The collection is available now and will be in stores until the end of the month.
