Karl Lagerfeld is a genius, an icon, and an idol! Knowing this it would only be fair to launch his KARL line with his own pop-up shop in New York Greenwich Village and a Net-a-Porter online exclusive to go along with it.
The KARL store is located at 375 Bleecker Street, between Charles St. and Perry St. When you walk into the store, there is a line of mannequins placed down the center of the boutique, all dressed in well thought out combinations with accessories. Behind them bright long tube lights stand accentuating the clothing making them look as if placed in a museum.
Racks of clothing hang on each side of the store, with a variety of T-shirts, with Karls face printed on them, leather skirts, pants and jackets. I saw a lot of black, metallics and a beautiful burgundy color that made my jaw drop as I reached to touch it. There is one table, at the front, with really interesting books. Towards the back on the left there is another table with fun items like eye shadows shaped as Karl Lagerfeld standing, and small Karl toys. You can find iPads placed around where you can conveniently go online and purchases more items from the line, on Net-a-Porter. I was scared to even look at the prices, but they where not bad at all ranging from $69 to $1100.
The store is scheduled to close in August 2012. Take the time to go and check this boutique out, you will want to know about it before it is gone as it is way to cool to miss out on such a novelty and a really exciting new place.
