Working tirelessly, advancing step by step, and shaping their project with care and attention to detail, Junior Varsity has made a name for themselves in the music scene by establishing a very close connection with their fans. While many bands feel very comfortable in the digital world and connect mostly with their followers through social media, the LA-based trio made up by singer/songwriter-producers Greg Aram, Zach Michel, and Brooke Danaher prefer the physical experience. They’re now presenting their independent third EP, My Star, before leading into their debut album.
Being the final installment of Junior Varsity’s 3 EP trilogy, My Star comes after having dropped a critically acclaimed two-pack EP with Warner Records and sets them up to cross into the mainstream industry. This musical project was created and took its first steps in the underground scene, where it quickly won the love of many fans, and now they're ready to jump to the next level and convey their voice to the entire world. Not only do they write and produce their own music, but they play a critical role in their visual aesthetic and brand, keeping the identity of the project without succumbing to the pressure of the music industry.
Their just-released EP, My Star, tells the story of the underdog living in a major city—the character everyone is rooting for even when the character feels they’ve lost hope in themselves. “The EP is a quick little love story,” they say when asked about their latest release, which captures the period of one year, letting the listener in on the dynamics of a new relationship. “And with the last song, you are left in the end wondering what happens next.”
