Just over a month after sharing Wish I Could Stay, James Bruner is back with OMG, a new single that continues to shape the sound of his upcoming album, due in the coming months. The Nashville-based musician leans into guitar-driven pop rock while keeping the direct, emotional tone that has run through his recent releases. The track follows the rush of instant attraction with the loose energy of a live performance.
The song also marks the beginning of a creative partnership. “OMG is actually the first song that Shane Weisman and I took on together,” Bruner explains. Written in 2024, the track grew from the idea of “a guy who becomes infatuated with a girl he sees at a crosswalk.” Even now, the feeling remains fresh for him: “Listening back to it, I still get that giddy feeling I had the day we laid down the ‘la la la la’ before the final chorus.”
As another preview of the album, OMG suggests a record moving between big choruses and more introspective songwriting. Bruner keeps the hooks close to the surface, but the song still leaves room for rawer moments. It is a balance he has been building through constant touring and a steady run of releases over the past few years.
Still only twenty-four, Bruner has already toured alongside artists including Barns Courtney, The Struts, and William Fitzsimmons. His sound takes cues from classic rock, but OMG keeps its focus on the present: another step in a run of releases built around melody, movement, and a direct emotional pull.
