Feeling that the time to take the reins of her solo project had come, Jacque Ryal decided to embark on a new adventure in her musical career. Originally from indie band Strip Darling, and most notably known from synth-electronic duo RYAL, the New York City-based indie-pop songwriter, artist, and producer now releases her first self-produced EP, titled Songs for Driving. This is a three-track, roll-down-your-windows-and-sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs collection of tracks.

Take to the Sky, and Jacque’s favourite, Unbuckle make up her just-released EP, Songs for Driving, a dancing dichotomy with which she wants us to roll those windows down and enjoy this wild ride of reinvention. From the unrallying cry of taking over one's life, cutting the proverbial chord and springing forward into progression to the expulsion titled Take to the Sky reminiscent of work from synth-pop duo RYAL, this project is the artist’s grand entrance on a new stage.

“In 2020 I grew restless, and I wanted to level up my skills and take the onus of a creative project top to bottom. I was watching all these incredible female producers take the lead, and I felt inspired to follow suit,” says the artist regarding her decision to explore a new facet of music and continue to overcome herself. “While my synth band RYAL is still and will remain a band, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and do what scares me most – be on my own and 100% self-reliant,” adds the creative, who is taking the reins not only on songwriting and being the artist but now as a producer.
