It seems like each new day we’ll have some important fashion news blasting through our screens. After Loewe announced that Jonathan Anderson was stepping down as creative director after eleven years just a few days ago, people were discussing who would take over the Spanish luxury house. Well, the wait is over: it’s dynamic duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. So, ¡bienvenidos a la Casa!
When the two announced that they were stepping down from their own brand, Proenza Schouler, founded in 2002 after they both met at NYC’s Parsons Design School, news outlets started wondering where were they headed to. Some people already pointed at Loewe, but since Anderson’s tenure at the brand had been incredibly successful, it seemed unlikely. But we know fashion thrives on all things new. Starting on April 7, the new Creative Directors will take over womenswear, menswear, leather accessories, and accessories.
In a joint statement, McCollough and Hernandez said: “We look forward to working alongside its extraordinary teams and artisans, whose talent — under the exceptional creative direction of Jonathan Anderson — has shaped Loewe into the cultural force it is today,” they continued. “We extend our sincere gratitude to Bernard Arnault, Delphine Arnault, Sidney Toledano, and to Pascale Lepoivre for entrusting us with this remarkable house’s next chapter.”
