The Swedish Grammy-nominated artist Izza Gara returns with Favour, a glittering blast of 00s electro, pop, and R&B packed with the bite of female empowerment. Written, produced, and performed entirely by Gara herself, the single dismantles the stereotypes that women face in a male-dominated industry. Pearls, lingerie, and delicate charm are reimagined as weapons of satire and defiance, turning the language of objectification into a bold act of resistance.
More than a nostalgic throwback, Favour positions Gara as one of the most uncompromising voices in Europe’s alternative scene. The track opens a new chapter ahead of her forthcoming EP, Superbia Hardcore, a project that promises to expand her fearless approach to both sound and storytelling. With sharp beats and a euphoric soundscape, the single proves how satire can double as empowerment, inviting listeners to rethink how women are framed in pop culture.
On the inspiration behind the track, Gara shares: “Favour is subversive in the way it plays on a stereotype I sometimes find myself reduced to. When women are fashionable, kind, and welcoming baddies, they can often be perceived as shallow or unintelligent, usually by men. That’s been difficult to navigate in an industry still largely dominated by powerful men. So I decided to lean into it: I’m in your favor, I’ll do or be whatever you need me to be, just listen to the music. Being objectified hurts, but turning that experience on its head with satire was actually fun. For me, it’s about taking control of the narrative.”
Born in Gothenburg with Turkish/Swedish roots, Gara has evolved into a rising force in Stockholm’s alternative circuit. Her background in dance, design, and visual arts continues to shape her multidimensional vision, where sound, movement, and aesthetics converge. Already nominated for a Swedish Grammy, she is steadily cementing her place in the Nordic scene and beyond.
