With her characteristic carefree attitude, silly lyrics about girl math and serving cunt, infectious melodies and layered production, our favourite equine artist aka horsegiirL has recently released a new EP titled v.i.p. - very important pony (out via Three Six Zero Recordings). Yes, she’s witty and tongue-in-cheek — but you could certainly tell that from her name and, well, her overall image already. With her horse identity as a leitmotiv permeating all of her work (previous hits include My Barn My Rules, Farm Fatale, and Pegasus), her six-track record is her longest project to date, and one that cements her as a producer, composer, and overall complete artist.
These past years, horsegiirL has risen up to global fame and travelled the world — DJing at different festivals and parties, gracing the pages of magazines, and exploiting all things horse-y. She’s also released quite a few songs since 2022, when she broke out into the scene. But it wasn’t until this year, 2025, that the artist released a work as big as her latest EP. There are a lot of questions surrounding her ‘real’ human identity — on her Resident Advisor profile, she writes: “Over the Meadow Mountains right next to the Blue Moon Pond and down the Rainbow Road lays Sunshine Farms — home of Stella aka. horsegiirL.” In a 2023 interview with Vogue though, she admitted to being based in Berlin — where else could you freely be a plastic-mask-wearing horse?
Even if she isn’t blonde with fake tits but rather a chestnut-hued horse, horsegiirL has presented herself mostly as a bimbo, acting silly in her gigs and producing songs with a sense of humour. And v.i.p. - very important pony continues on this legacy, starting with the title. Opening with material hor$e (a clear nod to Madonna), she starts: “Baby, money, fame, and power really changed me / And maybe there is more to life than farming in the daily,” speaking of her skyrocketing fame but staying true to her equine identity — which she never, ever abandons. Especially in the closing part of the song, where she owns the exploitation of her own species when she sings: “I wanna ride into the sunset with no clothes on / I wanna be the only pony you can bet on.”
Another highlight track is giirL math, which also shows how her character speaks Internet language. She knows what trends and she knows her audience too well — the gays and girls, mostly. Even if she starts the song being a bit of a smart-ass (“An independent girl takes over the world / I know mc square is E, leave it to me”), it quickly turns into another of her fun, bubbly songs about luxury, self-indulgence, and living la dolce vita (“I like pretty things, and they like me / I just wanna be a star, eat caviar”). It puts you in a good mood instantly, and we can’t wait to listen to it on the dancefloor.
The mood swifts a bit when it gets to eat, sleep, slay, repeat, a hardstyle track that references Fatboy Slim’s famous song. Again, her audience would rather slay than rave (or slay raving, or raving and slaying altogether), and also sing to her ironic lyrics where ‘hay’ is a metaphor for drugs — maybe saying ‘ketamine’, a horse’s favourite substance, was too obvious for her, who has a more playful, cheeky approach. “I heard you got some hay / Got some hay in your stack / I heard that once you tried it / You will never go back,” she starts.
From hardstyle to Eurodance and happy hardcore, horsegiirL has managed to compose and produce a solid EP that’s ready to be played at any festival or party. She always brings the energy, the humour, and the wit, staying true to herself and her identity. In the EP, she’s collaborated with producers like Namasenda, Free Jimi, Mietze Conte, Outrovert, dj g2g, or DJ Carli, among others, who’ve also helped her define and polish her already recognisable sound. Short and sweet, like Sabrina Carpenter’s favourite saying, the six-track record is just what you need to lift yourself up.
