There are brands that exist to keep fashion exciting, and Hodakova is one of them. In past seasons, creative director Ellen Hodakova Larsson has mastered the balance between her signature philosophy of transformation and a more refined, measured design language. This Spring/Summer 2026 collection, Conventional Collection 112509, marked a confident step forward in her ethos of upcycling and reincarnating discarded objects, while maintaining a more mature and resonant feeling than ever. The mood was thoughtful and assured; proof that Hodakova is now shaping not only striking statements but also a sustainable design vocabulary.
Known for finding inspiration in everyday objects, this time the creative director looked to the rain as the catalyst of the collection—not only as a mere meteorological phenomenon, but also for its symbolism. "For me, the rain stands for the reincarnation of things and all manners of cycles," said Larsson before the show. At the heart of the collection was the theme of rebirth, where everyday objects were reimagined into couture-like forms. Umbrella ribs became cage-like corsetry, old books were transformed into fluttering skirts, and handbags were stitched into bra tops. There was a dialogue between softness and structure that gave the show its dynamism, ensuring that nothing felt one-note or purely decorative.
What stood out the most was the technical and craft progression on display. A pleated white cotton dress revealed Hodakova’s growing precision in fabric manipulation, while the shimmering zipper-head embroidery showed labour-intensive innovation at a couture level. The debut of footwear, made from reclaimed leather and wood, was a bold expansion of her design territory. Closing with a collaboration that incorporated traditional Swedish thatching techniques, Hodakova wove her experimental practice back into heritage craft.
If anything is certain, it is that Hodakova does not only see objects but also possibilities. And if some pieces remained more sculptural than wearable, that tension is exactly what makes Hodakova compelling. She continues to challenge the line between fashion and object, narrative and function. S/S 2026 was not only a showcase of her resourcefulness but also a declaration of growth: she is moving beyond the early experimentalist label and into the realm of designers building lasting vocabularies. With this collection, Hodakova proves that reinvention is more than a design trick—it’s her brand’s essence, and it’s becoming a language that can carry her far into fashion’s future.
