When Bikkembergs first introduced the Soccer sneaker in the late 1990s, it changed the language of sportswear. What was once a performance-driven football shoe became a symbol of youth culture, bridging the gap between the stadium and the street. Nearly three decades later, the brand revives the silhouette with a bold new perspective, partnering with designer Gosha Rubchinskiy to capture the mood of a generation fascinated by Y2K nostalgia and the rise of blokecore.
The collaboration draws on the shared history of both names: Dirk Bikkembergs famously staged a fashion show at Barcelona’s Camp Nou in 2005, while Rubchinskiy made his early runway statement at Moscow’s Sokolniki Stadium in 2008. Their mutual fascination with the pitch as a cultural arena makes the partnership feel inevitable. For Rubchinskiy, who has previously worked with adidas, Burberry, and Comme des Garçons, the project channels his ongoing exploration of youth subcultures and the tension between uniformity and rebellion.
The new Soccer stays true to its roots yet arrives with a sharper, more refined finish. Crafted in soft premium leather by renowned Italian shoemaker Rodolfo Zengarini, it features an oversized tongue embossed with the Bikkembergs logo, the brand’s signature Ottoman side stripe, subtle screen-printed Gosha Rubchinskiy text, and a tone-on-tone outsole with contrasting studs and dual branding. Each pair comes with two sets of interchangeable laces plus a two-tone dust bag and minimal packaging.
Available in men’s and women’s sizing in white, green, and black, and launched exclusively through the official Bikkembergs and Gosha Rubchinskiy online platforms and selected European retailers, the reimagined Soccer offers a collectible piece that speaks to today’s global streetwear audience.
