Gentle Monster has just unveiled its latest creation, the Bold Collection, fronted by none other than the unique and unrepeatable Tilda Swinton. More than an eyewear launch, it feels like a manifesto: futuristic, fearless, and uncompromising. Swinton, a figure of transformation and vision, stars in a campaign where her presence becomes sculptural, and form takes centre stage. Photographed by Sølve Sundsbø, her aura pushes the collection into a territory that is both cinematic and otherworldly.
At the heart of the line is a radical reinterpretation of the bridge — shield-like in shape and stripped of traditional nose pads. This detail redefines the geometry of the frame, creating silhouettes that feel both protective and aerodynamic. The metal designs balance delicacy and density, while acetate models exaggerate volume, marked with the House’s recurring symbol that hints at speed and forward motion.
The campaign reaches its peak with a spectacular film by director Mau Morgó, where Haus Nowhere Seoul is transformed into a surreal realm where reality and virtuality collide. Swinton performs with fearless intensity, her movements transcending physical boundaries and resonating with the soundtrack, AS Disco by Amnesia Scanner & Freeka Tet, a pulsating soundscape that amplifies the collection’s futuristic energy. It plays less like a commercial ad and more like an avant-garde performance.
This is not the first time Swinton has entered the Gentle Monster universe. Back in 2017, she collaborated with the brand in a groundbreaking project we covered in METAL, a partnership that already hinted at this unique creative chemistry.
To mark the new release, Gentle Monster will open three exclusive pop-ups in Seoul, Beijing, and Tokyo from September 6, while the collection goes live online on September 5 at their website.
