Norwegian indie-electronic talent Fig Tape is releasing today his new single and music video, Miracle, marking a powerful step forward in his evolving sound and socially conscious artistry. Having already made waves with collaborations alongside GoldLink and KiLLOWEN, Fig Tape continues to rise as one of Norway’s most exciting musical voices.
Miracle combines lo-fi textures and warped synths with deeply personal songwriting, tackling the urgent theme of climate change. Inspired by the Danish drama Families Like Ours, which imagines families forced to flee their homes due to environmental disaster, the track captures the anxiety and emotional distance wrought by such crises. Fig Tape experimented with unique recording techniques on this track.
Accompanying the single is a striking music video directed by Jon Olav S. Gulbrandsen. The video offers a haunting exploration of love, separation, and human fragility amid a dystopian backdrop, perfectly complementing the song’s themes. “I already had the vision in mind; I wanted to create this indie-electronic hybrid with warped, surreal synths. One of the more unexpected parts of making the track was recording some of the vocals through an actual telephone microphone I rigged into my interface. That gritty, lo-fi texture you hear, that’s straight from that setup,” says the artist when asked about his latest release.
With Miracle, Fig Tape not only pushes his creative boundaries but also confronts one of today’s most pressing global issues head-on, making this release a standout moment in his promising career.
