Grammy-nominated South Central LA artist Duckwrth returns with I Wanna Be Your Dog Again, a new single that signals the next phase of his creative output following the acclaim of All American F⭐️ckBoy. The track arrives as his first new offering since the project that earned him a nomination for Best Immersive Audio Album, reinforcing his position as one of the most versatile voices operating between hip-hop, R&B, and rock.
Produced by Two Fresh and PERA, the song pivots away from the ego-driven narratives that have shaped much of his recent work and instead leans into devotion. It feels like a quiet shift, but an important one. Instead of turning vulnerability into something dramatic, Duckwrth approaches it as a choice. The production moves in a loose, almost slippery way, which lets him pull things back when he wants to, without losing the sense that something is quietly building underneath.
Speaking about the track, he explains: “This one is about devotion. I’ve talked about ego a lot — this felt like flipping it inside out. Being in love can make you feel feral, and sometimes that looks ridiculous. But there’s something powerful about choosing to love like that. I don’t want to make it pretty. I just wanted to emote honestly.”
The official visual builds on the idea in a clear and cohesive way, moving through gritty yet polished spaces where exaggerated styling and cosmetic details heighten the tension between performance and intimacy. Within these carefully constructed settings, Duckwrth leans into the absurdity of devotion without reducing it to a joke, allowing small gestures and understated moments of submission to carry the weight. There is humour in the framing, but it feels intentional and controlled, never slipping into parody.
After a period defined by critical recognition and international touring, this release feels deliberate in its direction. With his new track, Duckwrth shifts the lens and narrows the frame, choosing to explore a different emotional register.
