Dover Street Market celebrates the tenth edition of Frieze Art Fair in London, an event full of surprises such as the launch of Silvia Fendi's book, Baguette, where Silvia herself signed the book to all the attendances, a window installation and book signing by iconic photographer Rene Burri and exclusive preview collection by men's designer Aitor Throup.
We all know that between fashion and art there is a very fine line of separation, for instance one of the big influences in the fashion industry it has always been art. By now art is fashionable as ever, just look at the large arty-fashionable audience that gets together in London for Frieze or the numerous collaborations between fashion houses and artists, a great example of this is the union between Japanese Yayoi Kusama and Louis Vuitton, featuring Kusama's polka dots obsession on windows installations and on an exclusive clothing line and accessories.
Or have you seen Comme de Garçons latest t-shirt collaboration for this autumn/winter? Rei Kawakubo's studio design teams up with Colombian artist Oscar Murillo. Also it was at Comme de Garçons official UK-HQ, most known for Dover Street Market, where the Japanese house celebrated the arrival and tenth anniversary of Frieze Art Fair in London. This time they pushed the boat out, art and fashion met in this huge event that took place in the flagship store in Mayfair. It was an unforgettable evening full of bubbly wine and a vibrant crowd, where art and fashion once again got together.
Among all the activities of the night, Silvia Fendi launched her new book, Baguette, a tribute to Fendi's iconic bag and it compiles fifteen years of Fendi's signature accessory. For this special event Silvia Fendi was signing the book to all the attendances. To mark the unusual occasion Fendi in collaboration with Dover Street Market offered on sale a limited and exclusive edition of scarves and t-shirts. Between the crowd we could see Silvia Fendi's daughter, the jewellery designer Delfina Deletrez Fendi.
The Swiss photographer Rene Burri made a window installation with his iconic photos and signed his book with an original signature in tempera painting. We also were witness of one of London's edgy designer Aitor Throup and his preview of his collection On the Effects of Ethical Stereotyping companioned of a special installation.
