If you’re chronically online, you’ve probably come across several videos and comments labelling someone’s behaviour and actions as red flags — yes, the concept is everywhere. But admit it, you’ve probably messed around someone who was a red flag, haven’t you? As much as we want to be good and have an emotionally available and responsible partner, getting into more complex situationships is always a possibility. Danny Addison knows it – and has indulged in this like any of us –, and he sings about it in Pheromone, his new single.
Pheromone is about giving in to temptation and being at someone’s beck and call,” the British singer and songwriter comments. “It’s the ignoring of red flags and following your desires despite the consequences. It’s animal instinct, wildness and the rush of serotonin. It’s about being addicted to people or things that are, in all likelihood, bad for you,” he concludes.
This animal instinct he speaks about, he conveys it through powerful lyrics like “It’s your touch, your taste, your pheromone / Keeps me coming back and gets me so wild / I love the fix, your pheromone / But if looks could kill you’d stare, stare me down.” To complement this powerful song, where Danny’s vocals shine through, he’s tapped director John Ferrer and dancers-performers Emma Holt and Conor Kerrigan to embody that toxicity, desire, and magnetic attraction.
Pheromone is the first single off of Danny Addison’s debut album, titled Porcelain, which will see the light in the summer of this year, released via Zenith Cafe. Other highlight songs will include Beck and Call, Sense of Touch, Lady, The Dune, or Stains, among others. So stay up-to-date with his new releases, ‘cause they’ll be exciting.
