On June 22, the Live Art Development Agency in London will host the culmination of a series of pilot events that have taken place across England and Nogales (United States/Mexico border) titled Performingboders Live: Curating Borderless Spaces. The event aims to address the ways in which people can collaborate without racial, gender, economic and sexual borders determining the space. This is represented through a series of talks, performances, commissioned premieres, provocations, and even a delicious vegan lunch.
The line-up welcomes artists, intellectuals and activists from a multitude of disciplines. It will aptly begin with non-conformist artist and activist Raju Rage’s keynote in which they will discuss how to curate collaborative, borderless spaces. As well as performative presentations from the likes of the London-based Istanbul Queer Arts Collective, who represent “queer art of the future” and who draw upon the innately performative nature of gender and sexuality. There will also be a live Q & A with the perfromingborders curators Alessandra Cianetti and Xavier de Sousa. To close the event, Season Butler will write her musings on the day as a whole before the audience.
