Animated collages by Paris-based German artist Constantin Prozorov serve as windows into tantalising new realities previously beyond the imagination. His dream-like worlds of overlapping photomontages, drawn from different cultures and eras, pull the audience through inimitable, dynamic narratives. A collaborator of Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Moncler this artist is a high-end darling.
Hi Constantin! Thank you for speaking with us. How are you, and where are you answering us from?
Thank you for having me. I’m doing well, answering your questions from the vibrant city of Paris.
In a previous interview you described yourself as a “border wanderer” who feels at home everywhere. How would you say this nomadic aspect of yourself is expressed in your art?
Being a “border wanderer” deeply influences my art. I find home in diverse environments, and this nomadic aspect translates into the rich tapestry of my collages. The amalgamation of various cultural elements, seen in my work, mirrors the fluidity and interconnectedness of my experiences.
Tell us about your sources of inspiration. Did you always want to work with digital art?
My sources of inspiration are eclectic, ranging from fashion icons like Andy Warhol to filmmakers such as Wes Anderson and Tim Burton. This diverse palette allows me to infuse my work with conceptual depth and storytelling elements. As for digital art, it wasn’t always in my plans, but the medium’s endless possibilities captivated me. I found a unique voice in digital collage, transforming static images into vibrant, dynamic narratives that resonate with a global audience.

Do you think artificial intelligence poses a threat to digital art, or does it open up new realities (not unlike your animations) for us to explore?
I see artificial intelligence as an exciting tool that opens new possibilities for creativity. Rather than a threat, it becomes a collaborator, offering fresh avenues to explore and enhance the digital art landscape.
Let’s get technical. Could you walk us through the BTS process that results in such vibrant, playful scenes?
The vibrant, playful scenes emerge from a meticulous process. I begin by curating a vast array of visual elements, blending them with cutting-edge digital techniques. The layering of images, textures, and colours results in the dynamic and enchanting worlds seen in my collages.
You have collaborated with many luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Moncler, Mini (BMW), and Gucci. How do you ensure that the essence of the brand is upheld within your distinct visual language?
Collaborating with luxury brands involves a deep understanding of their essence. I carefully weave their identity into my distinct visual language, ensuring a harmonious fusion. The key is maintaining brand integrity while infusing my artistic signature.

Tell us a bit about the collaboration process. What do you value most in such partnerships? And what proves the most challenging?
Collaborating with luxury brands is a fascinating journey. I ensure the brand essence is upheld by infusing my distinct visual language with their identity. It’s about finding a harmonious balance between creativity and brand integrity. In collaborations, I value creative freedom. It’s the key to authentic expression. Challenges often lie in aligning visions, but overcoming them results in powerful, unique outcomes.
How do you find working in marketing and advertising compared to producing art under your own terms?
Both realms offer distinct dynamics. In marketing, there’s a defined message; in personal art, it’s unfiltered self-expression. Navigating both landscapes allows me to grow creatively and contribute uniquely to both worlds.
Your work has been celebrated for offering an escape from the routine of daily life. What do you hope to bestow upon your audience through such escapism? Is there a particular aspect of reality that you believe needs to be escaped from?
Art, as escapism, is a gift. It invites viewers to transcend daily routines, offering a respite into the extraordinary. The escape is a journey into enchanting worlds I create, providing a momentary departure from the ordinary.

Your animation work breathes a new life into art. What role would you say movement plays in transforming static imagery into dynamic storytelling? What does it bring to the table?
Movement is the heartbeat of my animated collages. It breathes life into static imagery, transforming it into a dynamic narrative. Movement introduces emotion, engaging viewers in the unfolding story.
The narratives you create consist of a delicate blend of reality and surrealism. How do you navigate between leaving room for interpretation while also guiding your audience through the story you are presenting?
Navigating this delicate blend involves leaving room for interpretation. While guiding the audience through a structured narrative, I encourage personal exploration, allowing each viewer to co-create their story within the surreal framework.
And finally, when and where can we see your art in real life? What have you got in store for us?
I’m on the verge of signing with a major agency in the USA covering art, entertainment, and fashion. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming exhibitions and installations. My art will continue to unfold in physical spaces, offering immersive experiences that bring the digital into the tangible realm. Exciting things are on the horizon!
