CLOSE PROXIMITY
Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow

When was the last time you had such a good night out that you completely lost track of time? That feeling of looking around and realising everyone is dancing to the same beat, with nobody particularly concerned about tomorrow. London-based duo CLOSE PROXIMITY have captured a little of that magic in their new EP, Every Body, released via Kendal’s French imprint Ritmo Fatale. Two tracks that celebrate the simple pleasure of losing yourself in music, preferably surrounded by people doing exactly the same.
Inspired by the Second Summer of Love, the duo revisit the euphoric sounds of nineties progressive house and trance, bringing their own energy to a musical heritage that continues to influence club culture. It’s an approach that fits naturally with Ritmo Fatale, the label founded by Kendal in 2020, whose catalogue embraces electronic music’s past while encouraging artists to explore new directions.
The title track, Every Body, wastes little time getting things moving. An infectious melody gives way to expansive piano chords and insistent vocal riffs, building towards the kind of release that makes people throw their hands in the air. The Future takes things somewhere darker, with hypnotic arpeggios and tension-filled synths that gradually give way to powerful drops. Both have that irresistible quality of making you wish you were hearing them through a proper sound system.
