Circulation(s), the Festival of Young European Photography premieres this year on March 13, with an eleventh edition dedicated to the emerging photographers in the continent and the exhibition of almost thirty projects, from thirty-three artists coming from a dozen of different countries, nothing less. If you were wondering what are the future trends in photography, this is the place to be.
Following its annual tradition, the festival is celebrated at the Centquatre-Paris and other satellite locations across France and abroad. Having the clear objective of revealing the vitality of young creation, the event speaks for the diversity of photographic forms of expression and embraces contemporary creativity.
Through unique exhibitions and events, Circulation(s) works as a stepping stone for new artists, a way to discover tomorrow’s talents and a trend revelator for the new generation of creatives. As its official webpage explains, circulating images “is also a way to circulate the ideas of a new generation of photographers”, the reason why the main value of the organization revolves around education and transmission of the image.
A must-attend event with must-watch artists, such as Uroš Abram with Sexy East, series with a documentary approach that describes the porno industry in the Czech Republic after the fall of communism; or the Spanish photographer Joan Alvado, who exhibits The Last Man on Earth, a project that questions the current and future fate of territories in the mountainous center of Spain. And let’s talk about Todd Antony with The Sun City Poms, a striking series – inspired by a retirement city – that explores the American obsession for child beauty pageants.
